Carl O. Bridges, 93, of Carlinville, IL died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born November 17, 1923 in Carlinville to William and Ethel (Largge) Bridges. Carl married Lucille Stone, September 16, 1979 at the Chesterfield United Church, she preceded him in death in 2008.

Carl served in the Army Medical Corps in the pacific theatre from 1943-46 attaining rank as a Master Sergeant. Carl then returned home and worked as a registered nurse at Carlinville Area Hospital for 30 years and St. John’s Hospital for 6 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, son, Rick Bridges, father and mother, granddaughter, Carla Meyers, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers. Survivors include: 3 daughters; Loraine (Stan) Meyers of Shipman, IL, Arlene Bridges of Bunker Hill, IL, Toni (Dave) Kromer of Carlinville, IL, Step-children; Jesse (Jerri) Stone of Chesterfield, IL, Sue Mae (Jim) Johnson of Winfield, MO, Rebecca Ann (Mark) Boehm of Oreana, IL, Linda Kay and Keith Stacy of Cologne, MN, Laurie (Steve) Myers of Springfield, IL, 2 sisters; Jane Delay and Lucille Thomas both of Springfield, IL, and 24 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
