Obituary for Olugbalah "Olu" Ridley

Olugbalah “Olu” Ridley, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Carlinville, IL passed on April, 15, 2017. Olu was born May 2, 1983, the son of Miss Angelia Jones and the late George Ridley.

Olu was preceded in death by his father, George Ridley, and brother, Bo Ridley.

Olu played football and ran track in high school. He received his GED and countless certificates, which included: auto mechanic, construction, plumbing, and real estate. In 2015, Olu established his first business and went on to become a successful Entrepreneur. Olu enjoyed sports, working on cars, spending time with his family and eight God-children. He confessed his beliefs in Christ at an early age. He was a caring, loving and thoughtful person with a beautiful, bright smile and contagious laugh. Olu touched so many people in so many ways and with that he will be forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his loving mother, Mrs. Angelia Pocklington and Step-father Henry Bates of Clarksdale, MS, three sisters; Fumi Ridley of Memphis, TN, Marcie Jones of Chicago, IL, and Akeenya Layman of CA, five brothers; Tunde Ridley of Waldorf, MD, Darryl Jones of Chicago, IL, Ronnie Ridley and Brian Ridley of Little Rock, AR, and Theron Ridley of FL, eight God-children, two God-brothers; Wyatt Percival and Kelsie Jackson, two God-sisters; Kristin Ragland and Kelli Bahler, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20, at 3:30pm at Heinz Funeral Home. A visitation will be held prior beginning at 2pm.

Burial will follow at Rural Methodist Cemetery.

A Home going Celebration will follow burial at The Carlinville American Legion, 554 Ramey St., Carlinville, IL 62626.
