Obituary for Bernadine Louise Pocklington (Lambert)

Bernadine L. Pocklington, 87, of Carlinville, IL passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born June 2, 1930 in Waverly, IL to Frank and Vera (Davis) Lambert. Bernadine married James A. Rawlings, February 18, 1950 in Waverly, IL and they later divorced. She then married Elmer C. Pocklington, March 5, 1977 in Jacksonville, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer, son, Steven J. Rawlings, sister, Verta King, brother, Nelson Lambert, and step-daughter, Nancy Gibson. Survivors include; her daughters, Marney (Mike) Jackson of Modesto, IL, Lori (Kris) Crutcher of Bloomington, IL, step-son Donald Pocklington of Hopedale, IL, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Bernie and Elmer owned and operated Pocklington Seed Company from 1977-1999. She was a lifelong member and past president of the Macoupin County Home Extension, a member of the Red Hats Society, CUMC, Business & Professional Women and she loved to sew for her family. She enjoyed cooking, was an avid reader, and loved gardening.

A visitation will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 12:30 to 2:30 at Carlinville United Methodist Church.

A service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:30.

Burial will follow at Mayfield Cemetery in Carlinville, IL.

Memorials may go to the Carlinville United Methodist Church or Sarah Circle CUMC.

The family has requested that funeral flower orders for Bernadine be made from Penny's Garden Party in Waverly, IL 217-473-2907
