Shirley M. Schmedeke, 68, of Carlinville, IL passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at her home in Carlinville, IL. She was born August 25, 1949 to Eldon Louis and Theola Ilene Maguire. Shirley married Loren E. Schmedeke September 10, 1967 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville.

Shirley retired from the Secretary of State in 2002. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, an avid reader, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Schmedeke of Carlinville, IL, son, Darren (wife Lisa) Schmedeke of Carlinville, IL, sister, Norma Little, and 4 grandchildren; Cheyenne Schmedeke, Lathan Hill, Rhy Schmedeke, Alexander Schmedeke, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Bethel Ridge Cemetery.
