Gene Bruce, 79, of Carlinville, IL passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at his home in Carlinville. Gene was born September 17, 1938 in Decatur, IL to Louie and Lora (Livergood) Bruce. He married Margaret “Peggy” Delaney February 19, 1960 in Niantic, IL.

Gene was a graduate of Niantic High School and attended Western Illinois University. He was a veteran of the US Army and farmed all his life. He was a member of the Carlinville Elks and the Carlinville Country Club.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife and parents. Survivors include his son, Neil (wife Sherry) Bruce of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Lori (husband Eric) Baima of Kalamazoo, MI, 4 grandchildren; Madison, Matthew, Cole, and Larkin.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4-7pm at Heinz Funeral Home. A Graveside service will follow Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11am at New Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may go to the Carlinville Public School Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
