Cathy J. Raab, 70, of Carlinville, IL passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Carlinville Area Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 9, 1948 in Carrollton, IL, a daughter of Robert and Rosemary Alberico. She married Lloyd Raab on April 26, 1969 in Effingham, IL, he survives. Cathy graduated from Carlinville High School in 1966. Later, she went on to earn her LPN (licensed practical nurse) license in 1976 from Capitol Area in Springfield and her RN license in 1979 from Lewis and Clark Community College. During her nursing career, she worked at St. Francis Hospital and Home Health in Litchfield and Macoupin County Public Health in Carlinville. Cathy enjoyed spending time with family, being with her grandchildren and shopping. She also loved spending time at the family cabin at Lake Rinaker and traveling to Canada. She was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church and The Macoupin Club – Lake Rinaker. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Kelly Jo Sies. In addition to her husband, surviving are her children, Curt (Sara) Raab, and Craig (Lori) Raab, all of Carlinville, IL; 6 grandchildren, Sarah Nicole (Cody Jacobsen) of Seattle, WA, Justin Sies of Staunton, IL, Mackenzee Sitton of Palmyra, IL, Jodie Walden of Carlinville, IL, Joshawa Sitton of Palmyra, IL, and Emily Rose Raab of Carlinville, IL. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 4-7pm at the Carlinville United Methodist Church. Private graveside service on Saturday, March 9, 2019 with Rev. Rex Hendrix officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Macoupin Club – Lake Rinaker.

Doris J. Gagnor, 89, of Carlinville, IL passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Carlinville Rehabilitation and Healthcare. She was born November 3, 1929 in Palmyra, IL to Albert and Lela (Crum) Stults. Doris married Chester Gagnor, January 6, 1951 at the Macoupin County Courthouse and he precedes her in death. She was a graduate of Virden High School. Doris was a Trust Officer and Vice President of F&M Bank for 35 years, retiring in 1989. She was a secretary for the American Red Cross and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Ss. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church. Doris enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Lyle Stults. She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Don) Janssen of Carlinville, IL, son, Vic (Carmine) Gagnor of Springfield, IL, sister, Gracie (Leroy) Young of Bethalto, IL, 4 grandchildren; Kelly (Brendon) DeJaynes of Carlinvlle, IL, Katherine Gagnor, Brittany Gagnor both of Springfield, IL, Dustin Janssen of Carlinville, IL, 2 great grandchildren; Henry and Oliver DeJaynes, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 8:30-10am at Ss. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019, 10am at Ss. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church. Memorials may go to the American Red Cross.

Mary Brownfield, 93, of Carlinville, IL passed to her heavenly reward on Sunday, February 10, 2019 with her daughter at her side. Mary suffered a fractured hip in December and was not able to return to her previous state of health. Mary was born August 31, 1925 in Peoria, IL. She was the sixth child born to Fred and Mary (Rauschkolb) Demmin. She lived in Peoria all of her young life and attended Manual Training High School. She married Richard C. Brownfield on June 7, 1947. Following their marriage, she and Dick began serving United Methodist churches in central Illinois. Those churches were in Hamilton, Decatur, Villa Grove, Galva, Carlinville, Charleston, and Normal. Dick and Mary moved to Hondo, TX in 1989 to be near their daughter and grandchildren. After a bicycling accident, they returned to Illinois in 2006. Mary was a devoted preacher’s wife, assisting with many church functions including singing in the choir. She had a beautiful voice and sang in choirs all her life. She was a homemaker until her children were older, when she attained an Associate Degree in Child Development and worked as a Child Care Provider. Mary loved flowers, gardening, studying maps, reading, and the church. She taught Sunday school, and was devoted to Bible Study all her life. In their retirement, Dick and Mary delighted in travel in the US, Europe, and Africa. They enjoyed bicycling, especially on their bicycle built for two. Mary and Dick had 3 children. Mary Susan and Dick passed away as young adults. One daughter remains, Jane (Scott) Reichmann of Carlinville, IL. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren; Dinah Jane Hutson of San Antonio, TX, and Luke Hutson of Austin, TX; a sister-in-law, Suzanne Adams of Amery, WI, and many nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life at Heritage Manor in Carlinville, IL on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:30pm in the dining room. Interment will be at a later date in the spring. Heinz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the The Preacher’s Aid Society of Illinois, Carlinville United Methodist Church, or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.

Katherine Marjorie Dohm, age 99 years, 9 months, died Friday, February 8, 2019, at her home in Girard, IL. She was the last member of her family. Kay was born in Seattle, WA, on May 8, 1919. Her father was Frederick William Dohm of Girard, IL, and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Hartnett Dohm of Bunker Hill, IL. Her mother died of influenza the week Kay was born. A few years later the family moved back to Bunker Hill, IL and in 1924 settled in Girard. Kay, being the youngest, was left at home while her siblings attended a country school. She didn't like having to fix lunch for her father and have to take it out to the fields, so she decided to just go to school with her siblings. They enrolled her at five years old and put her in a class with her brother George. She graduated from Girard High School, and went on to the University of Illinois. After completing college she decided to go on for her nursing degree at Yale. Completing another college she enlisted in the Navy where she was an officer. After finishing her enlistment she enrolled at the University of Michigan graduating with her Masters in Public Health. Kay spent her work years at Washtenah County Public Health. She lived all of her public health career in Ann Arbor, MI. In 2015 she made a move back to Girard, IL, to live near her sister Mary Dohm. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill and George Dohm, and sister Mary Dohm. Heinz Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL, is in charge of cremation. Burial will be at a later date in the Dohm family plot, Girard City Cemetery.

Lynn Norman Eichen, 69, of Carlinville, IL died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Heritage Health in Carlinville. He was born April 5, 1949 to Morrell Norman and Melba (Klaus) Eichen in Carlinville. Lynn married Donna Colleen Coonrod, August 6, 1983 in Carlinville. Lynn graduated Carlinville High School with the class of 1967, and he attended Michigan State University from 1967-1971, majoring in soil science. He farmed in Honey Point and Shaws Point with his father until 1986. Lynn was a self-employed auto mechanic throughout his life. He enjoyed all things related to motor vehicles and could fix or fabricate almost anything. He was an avid reader, with an amazing recall of all he read. Lynn enjoyed cooking, and eating good food, with a special fondness for ice cream. He also enjoyed talking and swapping stories with friends, family, and acquaintances, spending time with his nieces and nephews, and he loved his dogs, and all dogs. He is preceded in death by his father Morrell Norman Eichen in 2012. Survivors include: his wife, Donna Coonrod of Carlinville, IL; mother, Melba Eichen of Carlinville, IL; sister, Peggy Ann (husband Gary Burch) Eichen of Prairie Home, MO; nieces and nephews, Sage Eichenburch of Prairie Home, MO, Amy Reynolds of Springfield, IL, Scott Coonrod of Fort Wayne, IN, John Coonrod of Suwanee, GA, and Lindsay Coonrod Bechtold of Lawrenceville, GA; great nieces and nephews, Preston Reynolds, Shaling Reynolds, and Ava Bechtold, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 10-11am at Heinz Funeral Home with a memorial service to begin at 11am. Memorials may be made to Benld Adopt-A-Pet, MCDD, or the Carlinville Food Pantry.
