Obituary for Clara Marlene Eichen (Suhling)
Clara Marlene Eichen, 69 of Litchfield, formally of Carlinville, gained her angel wings and entered into Heavenly rest on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Clara was born December 10, 1949 in Litchfield, the daughter of Charles Detrich and Edith Matilda (Hammann) Suhling.
Clara attended Carlinville schools and graduated with the class of 1968. On October 26, 1969 Clara married Donald Lee Eichen at St Paul UCC in Carlinville. Clara retired from Carlinville Area Hospital in 2011 where she had worked for 18 years in the radiology department. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, cooking and frequenting garage sales. She was an avid collector of all things angel. Clara was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Carlinville and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law, Betty Eichen. She is survived by her husband, Donald Eichen of Litchfield, children: Curtis (Kathryn) Eichen of Mahomet, Rodney (April) Eichen of Carlinville and Jeana (Jeran) Hammann of Benld, grandchildren: Elizabeth and Logan Eichen of Mahomet, Daniel, Gavin and Isaiah Eichen of Carlinville and Blake, Ethan and Owen Hammann of Benld, father-in-law, George Eichen of Carlinville, sisters: Karen (David) Hildebrand of Gillespie and Sandra (James) Johnson Jr. of Carlinville, a nephew, nieces and several cousins.
Heinz funeral home in Carlinville is assisting the family with services. Visitation will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Services will be conducted at 10am Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. Paul UCC in Carlinville with Rev. Kevin Strope officiating. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Clara’s honor to St Paul UCC or the Carlinville Food Pantry.
